9/24
Hello,
Just a short note as I started the day at 4:00 am. Today I went to CIMA Hospital and had the bone marrow extraction done. I went into surgery at 7:30 and awoke around 10am with no sickness or pain. I spent the day watching HBO movies. I watched a full-length film in Spanish (without sub-titles) and I could figure out what was happening, at least a think I figured it out. As is the case in most US hospitals that I've been in, it took many hours and lot of convincing to finally get released.
Once I was back at the villa things improved. We had a delicious meal of stir-fried vegetables (we are stretching their usual menu by requesting vegetarian/vegan entries). The owner told me that they are actually excited to be trying new things as the usual Costa Rica food is quite bland. Speaking of the classic food of Costa Rica, yesterday we went to downtown San Jose and visited some stores and a local market. For lunch we had black beans, rice, and fried plantain, with pico de gallo. They did not have salsa as we know it. Even the jalapeno were mild as they had been blanched. Some bottled habenero sufficed for the spice lovers.
The evening rains are lighter tonight and you can see the lights of the city simmering in the distance. Tomorrow I visit the ICM Clinic in the AM and have the stem cells reintroduced into my bloodstream at the hospital in the afternoon. Not sure if I'll be home tomorrow night or not but will write as soon as possible. I'm really looking forward to welcoming these marvelous cells back into my body with intention and gratitude. Regards. Nancy
