Health News from Costa Rica  10/17/07

I am still noticing subtle changes in my health.  The large warts that covered three fingers of my right hand are all dissolved.  Today I noticed two toenails that had turned cloudy and thick from a toenail fungus are looking normal again.  I misplaced my glasses early in the trip but it has not been a problem.  I have been able to function without them.  I’m not sure if my eyes have regenerated or if it’s just that this relaxing lifestyle doesn’t require perfect vision.  I still have ups and downs and am still using the dopamine pills to level things out.  I had my exit interview at the Institute for Cellular Medicine yesterday and they videotaped my account of how I felt and how the procedures were for me.  I spoke with the head doctor there and he said that I should not be discouraged that my symptoms have not subsided yet.  He explained that the regenerative activity is just getting started.  He said, a person may experience big changes within a month or two while another may experience subtle changes over a longer span of time, maybe years.

My friend, John, (who also has Parkinson’s and received the stem cell treatment) wrote me and he reports that twice he woke up in the middle of the night and felt perfectly normal like he had never had PD.  He said the episodes lasted around 3 hours each time.  This is fabulous news as he has progressed quickly with Parkinson’s and so maybe his recovery will work like that also.

For our last week in Costa Rica we are  back at Villa le Mas in another glass house that offers a jungle level view of the jungle & mountains that wrap around this place.  We are laying low, resting, reading, writing, painting (I bought Molly some watercolors and an art pad for her birthday), and enjoying cable TV.  The wireless .  internet access is very fragile here and is down way more than it is up  This situation combined with traveling explains the gaps in communication and the latest lengthy email.

We fly out on Saturday, Oct. 20th and will get back to Lansing around midnight.  Looking forward to seeing you all and getting back to work on my fundraising ideas.   One more huge thank you for helping me achieve this important goal.  Hope to see everyone real soon.

Love,

Nancy
