Stepping Toward Democracy

What would democracy look like?
Thanks to YES! Magazine

Democracy isn’t just about voting once every few years. It’s about deepening our collective understanding and finding better solutions by drawing on everyone’s wisdom...

Toxic Toilets?

Adam Doling, news editor http://www.healthyschools.org

Proposed legislation in New York State that would ban the use of urinal deodorizers — widely used in restrooms for decades — in all New York schools has sparked debate about the possible health detriments of para blocks.  The issue of urinal deodorizers containing paradichlorobenzene came to the forefront last year, when an unusually high number of cancer cases among firefighters in a Brooklyn firehouse was linked to para block fumes.

Understand options to "the draft"

-From Elise Harvey

The Peace Education Center is coordinating trainings on September 18th and October 2nd at Lansing Community College.  Visit:  http://www.peaceedcenter.org/

Quotes

"The human heart and the human mind cry out for an end to the killing, to the violence, to the conflict, and to the cruelty which has marked human interactions for so many thousands of years. The human soul calls out,'Who will be on humanity’s team?'

"Power over another is truly a false definition of power.  For eventually, that other will seek power over you. Power WITH another holds the unlimited potential of creation that comes with co-operation..."

Turn yourself in

from Jon Addiss

"It has come to our attention that your odds of being killed by a terrorist are 1 in 100,000.  The odds that you will kill yourself are 1 in 9,200.  Therefore, you are a clear and present danger and you must turn yourself into the nearest Homeland security office or nearest FBI office!  You will be reconditioned!  Do this immediately!"

++++

What are the odds?  Oddly enough, the probability of eventually leaving your physical body (most call this "dying")  are very high.  I'd estimate about 1 in 1 : - ).  Here's an interesting overview of causes of "death."  Notice the large share of "transportation-related" deaths.

Hire Me!

The saga, "create the job I love" continues.  I've recently been blessed with great opportunities to co-author "Creative Communities:  A leap to possibilities thinking" with John Victory.  I also had the incredible opportunity to co-facilitate (and participate) in a great conversation with folks interested in creating ecological living learning environments at MSU.

A number of like-minded souls share an interest in healthy work, living, community, business, and conversation.  See more at www.re-news.net .  Join us on the 4th Monday for lunch from 12-2 at Magdalena's (see Creative Conversations above).

Please call me if you need help with a project, meeting facilitation, writing, brainstorming, or just saving the planet.
