February 23 I ♥ My Neighborhood Fair
Please join us for the I ♥ MY NEIGHBORHOOD Fair! at the Foster Community CenterPeople all over the Eastside are discovering new ways to celebrate and improve our vibrant community! To learn more about how you can make a difference where you live, join us at Allen Neighborhood Center's I ♥ My Neighborhood Fair on Saturday, February 23, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Foster Community Center.
Visit anytime between 10 am and 2 pm, and check out the many informational tables; learn how to organize and plan fun activities, deal with concerns on your street, beautify your street, etc. Meet others who have experience in neighborhood work to discuss your ideas or experience.
Remember: there are many different ways to be active in your neighborhood. Come learn about new ways to get to know your neighbors and build friendship and fellowship on your street.
Come by yourself, or better yet, make it an outing with your neighbors. If you have any questions, please call 367-2468 and ask for Sarah or Leslie.
Help identify the natural areas in our region that our most important to us!Don't miss this opportunity to begin to map our Green Infrastructure in the tri-county area! Capital Area District Library has chosen Inconvenient Truth, by Al Gore, as its countywide read for 2008. Discussions of the book will be taking place in all14 branches and will be featured in area bookstores. As a culminating event, a panel of three presenters have been invited to discuss topics ranging from overview of global warming (Steve Curwood, author and host of the NPR program Living on Earth); to an idea of what a community can do ( David Konkle, Energy Coordinator for the City of Ann Arbor); to a very personal account of living sustainably (author Judith Levine, Not Buying It: My Year Without Shopping).
