May R2C2 Update from Meridian/LeRoy

1)  Green Map

I met with Wade Prestonise and Mark Voldek about the “Greenmap.”  Currently, you can link to the map at www.lansingmetro.org   This is a Community Portal which offers some additional benefits.  It will be possible to link directly to the map from your website in the future. 

One of the coolest things as far as R2C2 goes is that the public will be able to search for recycling centers near them and then hours, location quite easily.  Eventually I’m hoping that this will interface with the calendar as well.

Take a look at the “draft” at lansingmetro.org

• Map still needs error correction and names added to some icons.
• It is also possible to add photos and links to the info pop-ups.
• I can add anyone as a “collaborator” to the map if provided with an email address.
• Editing will be done in Google MyMaps.

Plans for Future Versions of the Map

• Additional layers (greenways, trails, etc).
• Form for users to suggest places of interest to include on the map.
• Address issue of compatibility with older versions of Internet Explorer.

2) Pharmaceutical Waste

The Meridian Special Events Committee is interested in collaborating on an October 11 Pharm. Waste collection.  The committee suggests 10/11 because 10/4 is a home MSU game.  See the calendar for more details.  http://suapi.org/w1.php?period=c&wid=1&src=s96

3)  The Regional Calendar Has New Features!

A new easier to use interface, geographic searching, and simplified copying make the latest regional calendar an even more useful tool.
