Recent E-mail to Road Diet Supporters  9/18/07
from LeRoy

Dear Friends,

Another thanks to those who’ve helped keep the potential Hagadorn Road Diet over one more hurdle.  There’s one MAJOR potential “road block” ahead and that’s EAST LANSING CITY COUNCIL.  While some members support the improvement, they still need to hear from you now.

As you may have seen in the paper today, the Council will most likely discuss this at their next work session on Sept 25th.*

If you have a moment, please come by at 7pm and calmly voice your perspective(s) Tuesday 9/25 at City Hall 410 Abbott (about 2 blocks from the MSU Union) in Conference Room A or one of the larger courtrooms upstairs if the crowd is big).

If you’re shy – don’t worry -- You don’t have to say much at all!  In fact, the Council will appreciate brief comments.  If you can’t make the meeting you can also reach the entire Council (and City Manager) with ONE e-mail:  council@cityofeastlansing.com   IT IS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN MAKE IT TO SHOW UP, DUE TO THE LEVEL OF OPPOSITION.  I was very pleased that we had a few more supporters at the Transporation Commission meeting last night.  Only 2 or 3 spoke for the Road Diet (out of 20) at the public hearing a few weeks ago.

Long story short:  warm bodies matter!  PLEASE PASS THE WORD TO YOUR LISTS AND FRIENDS.

Thanks for listening and acting.  If it wasn’t for your efforts, this would not have gotten this far!

Sincerely,

LeRoy Harvey
