Subject: About the Gratuitous Advice from Holt in Yesterday's LSJ
Dear Commissioners (E.L. Transp.)--
Yesterday's LSJ Opinion Page carried an opinion column (see attachment) addressed to East Lansing from a woman in Holt regarding the Proposed Hagadorn Road changes. She wrote "knowingly" about such changes, using "changes" along Dell Road (which runs east-west just south of I-96 between College Road and Aurelius Road (actually slightly past) as her "proof".
Only problem is a source at the Ingham County Road Commission told me when I contacted him this morning that there have been NO changes to Dell Road -- adding it's ALWAYS has been a 2-lane road.
I phoned Derek Melot, Assistant Editorial Page Editor, yesterday and asked if the paper does ANY fact-checking before publishing such mis-information so prominently. He said no -- they simply trust that writers know what they're writing about.
Is it any wonder people continue to say "Don't believe everything you read in newspapers."?
Sadly, Ms. Greene is not alone in providing us with unfounded arguments on this important matter.
